Buccaneer 18 Class Association Meeting on April 10th
It’s time the first first annual (and first ever) Alaska Buccaneer 18 Class Association Meeting!
We’re going to have eight Buccs on the Lake this summer. This should make for some fantastic one-design racing and hopefully we can get organized as a class up here. We’re planning to meet 5:30 PM on Thursday, April 10th at the Moose’s Tooth to do the following:
- Get organized with the national Bucc 18 class so we can report our results.
- Share knowledge about how to race and tune our new Buccs.
- Come up with a catchier name for our class organization!
- Talk about ways we can promote and grow our budding class.
- Discuss a standard Bucc sail package for the club (Schurr? North? MAC?)
- Eat pizza.
- Drink beer.
All current Buccaneer owners are planning to attend, and in addition this meeting is open to any interested people. This includes all of the following:
- Anybody with plans to purchase a Bucc and join the class
- Anybody who thinks they might someday want to join the class
- Anybody looking for a regular crew spot
- Anybody just curious about what we’re up to
Although the Buccaneer 18 class is associated with the Alaska Sailing Club (ASC), you do not need to be an ASC member in order to come to this meeting. And if you’re going to come, please RSVP. The Moose’s Tooth is a great place to meeting, but it’s obviously busy. I’ll need to have an accurate head count in order to get us enough seating.
I should also point out that there are two Bucc for sale (sail) right now. Dave Johnson is selling his trusty old Chrysler Bucc and upgrading to a brand new Nickels. And Tim Gould and I have a brand new shiny red Nickels looking for a new home. (It’s already in state!) So if you have interest in purchasing a Bucc we’d be happy to talk about at the meeting.
Thanks, everybody! I’m looking forward to a fantastic summer of racing. If you have any questions regarding this meeting in the meantime, please feel free to contact me. Oh, and I’ve uploaded a PDF version of the meeting file. If anybody feels inspired please feel free to download a copy an post it anywhere around town.
